External grants

A number of external grant possibilities exist for joining the Quantum Photonics Group at the Niels Bohr Institute. If you are interested in applying, contact Prof. Peter Lodahl well ahead of the application deadline.

PhD stipends

Partial or full 3 year PhD stipends can be applied for by The Lundbeck Foundation. Furthermore, the Niels Bohr Institute offers partial funding for PhD stipends that will be posted here.

Postdoc grants

Funds for postdoc positions are available through a number of sources; a few of them listed below

Danish Council for Independent Research; Natural Sciences (FNU)

Supports postdoc projects of up to 3 years including salary and travel fund through individual postdoc or Sapere Aude programs.

Danish Council for Independent Research; Technology and Production Sciences (FTP)

Same support possibilities as for FNU but for application oriented research.

FP7 People - Marie Curie

2 year grants supporting salary and travel fund. 

The Carlsberg Foundation

Carlsberg supports up to 3 year of postdoc position including support for travel.

The Villum Foundation

The Villum Foundation supports postdoc salary 1-2 year.


Assistant/associate professor level

The Lundbeck Foundation

Offers 5 year funding for talented young researchers through Junior Group Leader Fellowships.

The Villum Foundation

5 year funding within Young Investigator Programme.

European Research Council (ERC)

5 year ERC Starting Grant for talented researchers with 2-12 years research experience after the PhD.
